Rhythm of the Home Ballet Slipper Edited Pattern

This sweet crochet pattern is a quick project for even the newest crocheter.  This particular pattern is for a 3 to 6 month old baby.  As in all crochet, you can increase the size for a bigger baby or child by using a larger size needle and thicker yarn.
YARN: #4, Aran OR Worsted

SC-Single crochet
HDC-Half double crochet

Numbers in parenthesis are the number of stitches that you should have when you are finished with that row.
The pattern is worked in one piece from the toe to the heel.

-CH 4, leave a 10 inch tail of yarn to use for seaming.
-Place 2 SC in the 2nd CH from the hook and 2SC in every CH across. CH 1, turn (6)
-2 SC in every SC across, CH 1, turn (12)
-2 SC in every SC across, CH 2, turn (24)
-2 HDC in first 2 SC, HDC every SC until the last 2.  Place 2 HDC in each of the last 2 SC, CH 2, turn (28)
-2 HDC in first 2 HDC, HDC every HDC until the last 2, place 2 HDC in each of the last 2 HDC, CH 2, turn (32)
-Repeat the last row, except DO NOT CH 2 at the end of the row (36)
-SS first 10 HDC, CH2, HDC in the last SS’d HDC ( Next to the new CH 2), HDC every HDC across until the last 10 HDC, leave these alone, CH 2, turn
-HDC every HDC of the previous row, CH 2, turn (16)
- Repeat the last row a total of 6 times.
-Fasten off, leaving a 10 inch tail for weaving in.
This is how the slipper should look now.

Fold it in half length wise.

Sew the heel edge with the tail end of the project, then turn the slipper right side out so that the sewn edge is on the inside of the slipper.

Fold over the left side of the toe part.

And then fold the right side over the left as shown.

Place a button on the edge of the fold and sew it into place making sure to go through BOTH layers of folds, but avoiding the sole of the foot.

Note about buttons

Because this is intended for a baby, please be aware of choking hazards with small objects and young children.  If you do place a button here, make sure that is secured completely.  Another option to embellish this slipper is to crochet a small flower in place of the button.

Turn the slipper wrong side out and, using your tail from the beginning of the project, sew along the first formed edge ( inside) to secure it in place and to avoid it shifting during wear.

Now, turn your slipper right side out and admire your fantastic job!

  1. I love these little slippers. I am attempting to make them for my baby, but I've hit a bit of a snag. On the row that has 2 HDC on the first 2 Sc and last 2 SC, I am ending up with 32 stitches instead of 30, which is throwing off the rest of it. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

  2. Actually my above comment should say I am ending up with 28 stitches instead of 26.

  3. -2 HDC in first 2 SC, HDC every SC until the last 2. Place 2 HDC in each of the last 2 SC, CH 2, turn (26)

I dont know about you but when I get to this line Im getting (28) Is this an error or am I doing something wrong? Please reply?

  4. Thank you for making the corrections in the pattern above and responding quickly. :)

  5. I love this pattern but don't seem to understand the part where you SS 10 ... the way I am doing it ends up with this thick fold. Can you help me???
